Surveying the diversity and experiences of STEM professionals
The Queer in STEM study was started in 2013 with a fateful text between two friends who had science, and LGBT identity, in common. We’ve since surveyed the experiences of hundreds of lesbian, gay, bi, trans, and otherwise queer folks working in the sciences, publishing some of the first large-scale studies of the workplace climates encountered by queer STEM professionals, and how they navigate them. This website is the online home of the Queer in STEM project, where you can find the latest news about our ongoing work, media coverage of our results, and general information about the people behind the study.
